The DG box in my opinion is far preferable to the later 35 and 65 boxes,( and the Model 8 and 12 fitted to Jaguars ) although those later boxes tended to have a better shift quality . The DG ( it stands for Detroit Gear ) has the great advantage of a lock up direct drive in top, which eliminates torque converter slip and improves fuel consumption . The Jaguar versions also had the two alterations to which you refer - both developed by Jaguar themselves - of the anti-creep solenoid which traps a small pressure in the rear brakes until the accelerator is pressed , and even better the intermediate speed hold which means that you don't need to use kick down to get 2nd gear . You can easily tell the later boxes on Jaguars because they had the D1, D2 start facility, ( and no intermediate speed hold ) which locked out bottom gear in the D2 position. Utterly pointless in my view but Borg Warner were of course geared to the American market which often used 2 speed boxes - eg the quite appalling GM Powerglide
