Boot Light Set-up

As I've discovered by now, nothing on my p6 is simple, as I imagine is the case with many p6's restored on this forum.

Today, I took my boot carpets and rubbers out to clean up and had a quick look ever the wiring of the boot light which hasn't worked since I bought the car.

I took it all apart and had a look at the assembly and noticed the following.

1.The switch which activates the bootlid, is not wired up to anything at all, see that attached photo.

2.The boot-light is attached to a purple and black wire and a purple wire, similar to the ones attached to the wires on the overhead light.

3. There is a blue and blue/green wire attached to nothing just lying about the boot space, this for anything specific?

So basically, whats ment to be wiring to what?

You should have a wire with a spade terminal coming out of the loom near the boot switch .I'll need to check mine to see what colour it should be

Hi Fraser,

Dave's right, the switch is fed from the loom via a purple/black cable.

You can just make your cable out on the left of your 2nd pic. No idea what the unconnected blue cables are - fitted by a previous owner no doubt.

Some numpty (guess who  !) managed to snap off the plunger on my switch but I made one up from a bit of blue polyprop from work.

Cheers,
