Blow pipes... - ...or as some people call them, exhausts

This morning my wife asked me if my exhaust should be sticking up like that and after blushing I realised she was talking about my car. I took a look and sure enough the tail-pipe is pointing at the clouds, tucked up under the rear bumper. I didn't look any further...

The really strange thing is, it occurred to me that in all the years I've owned P6's I’ve never replaced an exhaust...

I'm assuming Kwik-fit won't be able to help so where? Who? and most importantly, how much?!

First of all I would take a look underneath, I suspect the pipe will have broken away from the backbox where it enters. I've noticed that a lot of the older P6 exhausts are made of very thick steel, and it's usually the boxes that rot out rather than the pipes rotting, in fact on my old TC I used the exisiting pipes and some universal silencers to make my own system.

Depending on the model you may be able to source a backbox from your local motor factors, have a look on www.bodyshopwarehouse.co.uk their Bosal catalogue lists systems for the 2000/2200 etc, £35 for a back box for a 2.2

I saved the fittings from my "backbox" on the TC when it failed. I then had them welded in the proper relationship on a nice straight through fiber glass "glasspack".
The resulting tone was very pleasant.

Richard, spot on that man. I got a peek under there yesterday afternoon and it was as you say the join between the pipe and the back-box... thanks for the link too.

Addendum... got a very polite mail from Richard at BodyShop to say they no longer supply the parts I need... back to square one...
