Autojumbles

Would it be a good idea if dates /locations of autojumbles were posted here ?
There don't seem to be many here in the South East
Or is it all on E Bay now ?

I've noticed in the past that Classic Car Weekly often list autojumbles. It might also be worth contacting people who organise general classic car shows in your area, as quite a few also host autojumbles.

As for fleabay? Jumblers seem to be using this to work out the pricing for their parts, if you ask me. A few times recently I've tried to haggle and got "I can get more than that for it on ebay". I also look at the stalls that are inside last. I've noticed that all the traders who are outside in all weathers, often offer a better deal. But then, they're not paying the extra to be inside are they!

A lot has definately moved to ebay, lets face it they get more for the parts on ebay, and for the buyers they don't have to trek to an autojumble and spend all day looking for what they want.

We struggle to find anybody to do autojumble at our show most years, there seem to be less and less willing to leave the comfort of their homes to sell.

I much prefer the thrill of the "HUNT and HAGGLE!!!" for those elusive parts, bargains!! you never know what you want till you find it!! especially the 2 knackering days at Beauliea!! also you can look at the condition of the item, rather than trust an Ebay sellers word!! you normally wont get a full refund with return p/p costs added either!
But then Ebay is a free 24/7 open market place for buyers!!
I dont think the autojumbles will dissapear, but they will become more selective, with sellers only doing the bigger events!
I recently sold a p6 recon strip speedo on Ebay for 99p + £9 p/p.
I would much rather of sold it at an autojumble for £10 and it all went into my pocket.
Both markets have their merits and pitfalls, its up to the individual at the end of the day,but I believe a real enthusiast will want to go to good shows and autojumbles, just for the day out!!
An item worth £1 will not sell on ebay if the p/p is £5!!! if you know you can easily get it for £1 at any show, its uneconomical!! unless you are really desperate for it!!!
I go every year to the Footman James Autojumble at Shepton Mallet as its local, its not big, actually its pretty poor really, but if I stayed at home,I might miss out on that elusive bargain from a seller that does not know the values of stuff!!
It only costs the entry fee and my V8's fuel, but overall it is a good day out!! even if I dont buy anything!!
Either I want or need it,or,its rare, and I "know for sure" that I can make big bucks selling it on Ebay!! :p
Car Boot sales, flea markets, bring and buys, you never know what you will find!! :p

I once bought a 3500s steering wheel and boss for £1 . I had it recovered and it's now 100%

I like a good rummage , you may see some part that's better than the part you have . And it's a good chnace to stock up on aerosols / connectors and bags of mixed split pins etc

Around this time last year there was one at Midhurst - I'll check if it's on again this year
