Auto Oil cooler - Hot gear box

The flexible hoses that run from the front of the engine to the bottom of the radiator for the auto fluid cooling had been leaking slightly for a while, after a run out on Saturday I noticed all the drivers side front suspension covered in oil, so having put off the job for a while it was time to replace them.

A bit fiddly but once off I got some replacement pipe ( 5/15" ) from halfords and put them back together.

One noticable difference is my left foot nolonger gets hot - so the pipes must have been blocked and the gear box musn't have been cooling properly - the gear change is also smoother. Suppose I'll have to change the oil now.

For the 1st time ever I now have a Rover that doesn't leak oil !

Well done, I know those pipes are a swine, especially where they join the hexagonal connectors to the rad inputs. My pipes used to weep at that point, only two No.1 jubilee clips prevent any incontintence of TQF at that point.

Speaking of 'leak free' cars, I wish, I wish, I wish.

Mine is very good a leaking the odd bit of engine oil there, a drip of TQF from the autobox sump gasket there, the odd bit of coolant out one of the matrix hoses......

The list goes on.

Maybe I should call my P6..... 'drippy'.

A Rover that doesn't leak? hmmm you sure its not one of the BMW things I heard about?
Rule no.1 about British cars and bikes if there is no oil dripping you have run out of oil
