auto gearbox

well car was ok when i parked it up dut i now carnt get it out of the road as live in small cul de sac and it is a heavy old car so wouldant it be easier to tell me both things? that it could be please it dose go into drive if that helps thanks for help cj

It will be either:

A) A fault with the rear band or it's operating mechanism.

Or

B) A fault with the rear clutch or its operating mechanism.
 
dose this help the wife said the other day when she was out in it she said that when she backed up it was if the clutch was slipping when she was on a sloped drive? dose this help i think it may be new box if so willhave to waite for a bit thanks for your help :?: :?:

No, either fault would give that symptom.
 
:( :( :( was having a good day the old boy over rd well hes older than me wanted some help with his exhaust well got that job done lol still having good day got some more tools out and had a go at adjusting the rear bands :? :!: :!: so took carpet up gromit out then tryed to have a look and being a big guy could not see a thing so took glovebox out still no joy so i used my noging and made a bigger hole but done it so i can weld it back up? all good so i can now see and get to the adjuster yepeee but that was not long lived i had cought the brake pipe but had a look and it wernt that bad till i moved it to see if it would leak? but it snaped 5-6" down so not only got to sort box now brakes back box and see if i cured the not running right o well better it snaped now than going down road i wonderd wats next i realy wish i hadernt got this one ill see how he was he was up north thow thanks and night
 
i managed to do that too... not fun.... if it's 40+ years old though then replacing it is probably a good idea by now!

rich thats true but the car is a money pit and it still not right lol and its money that i could of spent it on my other car paint job? but still ill adjust box today if it works ill sort the brakes if not ill have to save up lol and at 52 ive forgot more than i know and the pipe running round the tunnal bit silly a but these things are sent to try us :)
