Australian P6 on Ebay - Very Late NZ A/C?

Hi Chaps

I have a general P6 search set up on Ebay and look what it turned up: 250101769293 !!

Check out the velour upholstery! And look at that A/C unit! Build date is quoted as '76. Could this be one of the late batch New Zealand built cars?

Must say I hadn't realised that the early 2000 style A/C's were still being fitted down under as late as this. I'd assumed they would all be NADA type dash units.

Any experts out there?

Chris

Actually there are some oddities under the bonnet as well. Engine steady bar in the standard place implies a different A/C compressor to the UK/NADA std system. And what are those two cannisters either side half way down the engine bay with an air bleed off the air cleaner elbows?

Chris

The canisters on the inner wings are charcoal filters for emission control, the carbs themselves look like SD1 items with the butterfly poppet valves fitted for the same reason. (Although they never worked properly)

Saw that car, very common for aftermarket air to be fitted to a car of this vintage, was hugely popular here in the seventies.
Not saying it's not an oddball factory job, just that it may not be.

Regards, Andrew.
