I HAVE THE CHANCE TO PICK UP FIBRE GLASS WINGS FOR MY P6 CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF ITS WORTH MY TIME BUYING THEM . IVE HEARD THEY DONT FIT PROPERLY AND LOOK PRETTY BAD IS THIS TRUE ? OR ARE THEY OK :D

Hi Peter,
It all depends, if you spend the time on finishing fiberglass panels they can look quite good (Pop down to your local TVR dealer for an example)
However if you paint them with a mixture of cement dust and creosote and attach them with rusty self tappers they will look bad, basically all I am saying is if you prepare them well enough they will be fine

Ali is right. A great main advantage of fibre glass wings is you are free to chop and add bits to the edges to get the panel gaps spot on.

One excellent tip if your working with fibre glass; it doesn't stick to polythene. This means you can use bits of carrier bag etc taped to card to create formers. Offcuts can also be used to push it into place once it's gone off pull the polythene away and your left with a perfect finish.

I have seen a set on a car that looked poor only because the paint was flat and had runs in it.

I am fitting a set to my car and they will be painted at the same time as the doors etc so I am hoping it will look good.

I think it is down to personal choice and snobbery.

And they shrug off knocks somthing lovely - Check out Freelander front wings. Check this link http://www.freelanderclub.co.uk/crash/crash5.jpg the only panels left straight are the wings. There was a better one of a rollover on a Belgian motorway but I cant find it.

If I replace mine again Ill go fibreglass. Saves weight too.

I have been thinking of fiber glass wings for some time now, especially since my wife flattened the best one on my 2000 TC by hitting it with a school bus. She never even noticed the contact!! That one will take considerable pounding skill to rescue. Does anyone know if these are available in the States?
