Another wiper dilemma

After doing a couple of jobs in the vicinty, replacing lower screen seal and servicing heater, i have now some issues with the wipers.

Since i've owned the car and up until now the delay never worked, but they were fine on both speeds with a good washer squirt.
Now i've replaced the air intake valance and wiper arms etc, they only work on FAST, with a dribble
There is also considerable more noise: A click when the rod is being pushed, and a occasional, light "grinding" from the drivers side wiper arm.

After reading a few posts about the sponge, i'll be trying that. BUt what's likely to be causing these symptoms?

I've cleaned up the immediate connections to no avail, and the only thing i've noticed visually is some insulating tape has come off a soldered wire..

Thanks

The chances are that the noise is something has not gone back the way it should if it was all OK before you removed/refitted the valance but it isn't now. Re-check all you've done, and the same goes for the wiring to see if you've dislodged anything while you were in the area.

The large metal cover washers that go over the wiper spindle and butt up to the grommet are handed left and right - is it possible you've got these crossed? One could be catching on the spindle.

As far as the delay's concerned, I replaced the sponge on my governor but to no avail! I ended up buying a NOS governor from ebay - now works a treat. There's another on there at the mo...

Wiper Delay Governor

Good Luck!

Thanks,
I'm pretty sure they're the correct way round, the more complex one passenger side?
Why would the pressure for the squirt suddenly die too?

I'll thoroughly check it out tomorrow, get the multimeter involved.
One other thing comes to mind, when i refitted the valance it was a little tighter than usual. I just put this down to fitting the new lower seal.

Just thought i'd update this.
I cured all the strange noises at the time with wd40 and cleaned out the metal wiper squirters thoroughly, which sorted out the poor squirt power
I just left it like this consoling myself to sort it out later as they still functioned as wipers, if not very user friendly.
However, last week of their own accord, they began working perfectly again, parking correctly and working on both speeds!
The delay is still just the same as SLOW setting, but who really cares?

funy thing,that.
I completely rebuilt my wiper motor, switch, etc. while doing all the mechanical restoration work. I got it all working perfectly. Now this car hasn't yet been on the road OR in the rain, but yesterday while doing electrical work I thought I'd check the wipers......NO GO. Fiddled with the switch, they went for a minute or so, changed speeds, and stopped. No Go again.
So my assumption is they have a mind of their own.

Can anybody tell me which cover washer goes on which side? I spent time this PM swopping 570502 RHS and 570503 LHS because I`m certain they had been wrongly assembled. In the end I fitted the deeper of the two, convex on the drivers side and the shallower bent one to the passengers side. Wiper arms not refitted so I can relook another day because I am not certain I `ve got it right.
