Another question about springs

I started stripping down the front right suspension today - all of the bushes and ball joints got roasted in the fire, so they all need replacing.

I got the front right spring out and it looks like this:

I'm no expert, but a quick once over with a wire brush and a lick of paint and I can probably pop it back in - right? :?

Hmmm, given that the spring isn't standing up straight as it should, and I can't see anything attached to it which would prevent it, then to me the best place for them would be anywhere but on the car.

The standard springs will see the Rover very soft and floaty, so new standard springs or stiffer springs for improved handling, braking and control.

Oh dear! That's what happened to Lucky's first set of replacement springs. So the implication is that you have achieved an experimental re-tempering that hasn't quite worked!

You can either get a set shipped from Ian Wilson, who keeps them on the shelf, or get some new made up locally. A very good idea to get the back ones done at the same time. The back tend to sag more noticeably than the front, so with new front springs, you will otherwise have a most peculiar looking nose up attitude!

I'll look out the dimensions for both for you in a bit nd post on here.
