Was that common, the roof AND tailgate being different colour from the rest. To me it looks weird. But I quite like the look of the Estoura mmmmmm. One day maybe.
It was quite common for them to wear a black vinyl roof done like that to include the tailgate. It's the only one I've ever seen with a light colour though. The chrome trim at the base of the vinyl on the door is actually a side moulding strip! The car looks to be very sound and genuine. But, like all estates, it would be necessary to keep it under cover - there's very little water sealing to stop rain bypassing the rear door!

Ok I'm home now so I'll explain some more. We went to see the estate while we were on our way down to see my red 3500 which I bought and am now driving everyday...I love it!!
Anyway back to the subject, eh! My friend has, as I've mentioned several times on here, had 22 of these cars and does nut and bolt restorations on them, and was all over the estate for every indication of fatigue and the dreaded tin worm. He was satisfied of its condition and we then went off to see mine which we ended up buying and driving home.
He's collecting the car tomorrow as far as I know so I really really hope he brings it to work for me to see tomorrow afternoon
Once I've seen it and got some pics, I'll show you guys, with his permission of course.
I do know that he doesnt plan to restore it right away, he's going to drive it as it is and get a feel for it. He will of course stop any rust in the baseunit if he finds any, but he wants to drive it as it is for now. He's like a kid at Xmas, he cannot Wait to get it, mind you neither can I!!!! I don't know who is more excited
