Hi all,

I have just replaced the alternator on my 72/73 2000sc with one sourced from a member on here.

Fitted, 3way plug plugged in, turn key, no IGN light.
Car started, no charging
Whilst running around getting multimeter etc car unexpectedly stopped and won't restart.

So far I have checked the float (happily full of fuel)
Nice Spark from coil HT
No spark from plug HT :?
Points okay and gapped (what should the gap be so I can check?)

So, do I have the wrong alternator which has fried something (condenser perhaps?) or is it all a coincidence?

HELP????? I so really want to use this car I've had it back from the bodyshop 4 weeks and only done 4 miles

Slight change........ Checked properly with 2 people this time!
Bloody awful tiny orange spark from the coil ht and the output resistance of the coil is 7k ohms, im led to believe it should be 10 K ohms plus....... So new coil a definate?

Problem solved..... new coil (new cap and condenser too for fun!!)
