Hi All,

Sorting out a few niggles with the suspension before going to Le Mans Classic, I have movement/clonk noise from the De dion tube, I will pick up a service kit but as far as I can see there is no plug/filler for oil? the car is on a four post lift so access all round is fine but cant see one, is this right??

Many thanks,

Richard.

The later cars didn't have a filler plug, they were greased at the factory and fitted as a sealed unit. All you can do is remove it, dismantle, reseal and grease it, or fit an earlier tube with a plug so you can shoot in a few jets of oil from an oilcan every now and then to keep it quiet.

Hi Richard,
Later cars had a grease lubricated tube hence no filler plug.
Is the movement in the gaiter/slider area?
Not sure if the movement is the norm on later cars as i fitted a new grease filled tube to my car and that had some moment
but did not cause any knocking.
Another thing i would check first would be diff hanger bracket condition and mounts/bolts/tie bar area.
Rear shock bushes also cause knocking when worn
Regards,
Clive.
