One for Harvey, I expect! Is the BW35 autobox from my '72 P6B the same as used in the '68 P5B Coupé? I met the owner of just such a big two door Rover the other day, whose car was suffering from a slipping reverse gear. I would like to just check if my spare autobox would fit his car. Look forward to your knowledge!

Short answer yes, with an "if", long answer, no, with a but........

Physically it will bolt straight in, but as said earlier there are two selector patterns, and also two kickdown cable lengths, but neither of those are massive problems to solve.

It's always worth checking the rear band adjustment, or removing the sump to have a look inside if the problem is with REVERSE gear only

Incidently. I have all the bits to convert from the long to the short cable, and also the parts to convert from the early to the later selector pattern. (If you wanted to get that involved.)

Thanks chaps.
Rovering Member, you're of course quite right, I think I meant to say "big Rover coupé" but confused myself.
