'66 Wedgie Blue 2000...

I saw this one yesterday; the series 1s still look 'right' to me when they are in some of the early colours and haven't been 'altered'.

Vehicle check shows registered on 5 January 1966. However, James Taylor's book lists the change to the later type of front valance as Feb 1966, at the same time as the rear reflectors moved to the wings - this one has one but not the other. 120mph speedo shown as coming on line in Feb 1966, at same time as mirror had steady post and map lights deleted from ends of parcel shelf.
I'm not sure, but can I make out the edge of a map light under the dash in one of the photos?

Whatever the detail, good to see a nice series 1 still around. It looks as if it's had an enthusiast owner and must be worth a look if anyone was after one and lived nearby.

They moved from the light units to the corners of the bootlid, they didn't move to the wings until the Series 2 came along.

Doh - that's what I meant (honest) - big typo though!

The 120mph speedo is a lot earlier in reality - about May 1965.

This car is a 1965 build and will still have lights under the dash. It'll be positive earth and the rear lights are correct, however the reversing light is missing (usually in the middle under the bumper on the rear jacking point).

Does look, from these photos, like the car has a later front valance though, which is, technically, incorrect, but the car won't suffer in side winds as bad as Sharkstooth cars or V8's.

1966 is one of the key change years of P6. I hope to put together a complete record from the Service Newsletters in the future.

That car is very attractive with a London registration, but note the overspray in the shot of the boot, far too much blue going on there.

Cheers
Nick

Also it has a late radiator and a Girling servo.

Not correct for the year, but reasonable and desirable upgrades.
