Hi all I've just fitted the 4 speed box into my p6,it was an auto but am in the middle of a conversion.I have the original 4 speed gearbox mounting but it doesn't line up with any of the mounting holes? What is the best way to combat this ? Many thanks

Hi, Fabricate a new crossmember/mounting for it. It's all part of the fun of doing conversions or modifications.

That's sort of the answer I was expecting... I thought that there maybe a mount available .... but hey ho looks like il make one up thanks

There was a conversion kit available from the factory, but it was very rare. I've got one in the shed somewhere, but it's the only one I've ever seen.

Here is my mount for an LT77 into an auto car using an SD1 gearbox mount with the ends cut off and new plates welded on to suit the pick ups on the car. The mount uses the two standard SD1 cotton reel rubber mounts and a central buffer. You could scheme your own mount rubbers to suit the 4 speed if it is different.

How level is your engine of that makes sense ?.... just so I've an idea as to how high the engine has to come up ... thanks for the picture very help ful

Before I pulled the auto box I measured the distance down from the top of the tunnel to the centre of the drive flange on the box, then made sure the LT77 flange was at the same height.

Must be quite the conversion kit. The rear mount is quite complex between the snubber bar & the spring mount.

Unfortunately I've already put the manual gearbox in .... is there any other reference points I can use that you know of ? Cheers

Make sure the horizontal throttle rod is in a nice straight line, and check how high the gearknob sits, if they're about right, the gearbox will be sitting about right.
