3500S or Post 74 Models? Large Bore Exhaust Manifolds Wanted

Wanted pair of large bore exhaust manifolds for 3500S.

Good price paid for the genuine article. I have just bought another pair via post only to find they dont fit.

I was informed that post 74 3500 auto models could have the larger bore manifold too?

With my 3500S the previous owner had adapted (trying to think of a stronger word here :x ) the small bore manifold to suit. No much wonder the exhaust leaked and it was also clarted all around with exhaust paste. Having recently just purchased a stainless system from JRW I thought I was ready to get her back on the road only to find the difference when fitting the parts up. In my search, I recently came across an advert for genuine S exhaust manifolds and bought them only to find that they too are small bore, the owner of these must have believed that they were S exhaust too but unfortunately I'm left with a collection of manifiolds all basically useless to me now.

As far as I can establish the manifold stud pitch measures 65mm, versus 60mm for the small bore manifold.

Looking back now, and instead of baulking at JRW price for new manifolds I should probably have bitten the bullet TBH. This has not been a uncommom experience during the rebuild of my car over the winter (engine gearbox etc), as there are some parts I purchased to keep costs down, but in the end I would have been better of going to the P6 specialists in the 1st place.
 
Are you sure the manifolds are original P6V8 and not from another if the heads have been replaced in the past? like SD1 or other V8 engined car?

For sure their not now after trying them alongside my exhaust pipe. The person that sold the manifolds to me believed they were, and when I told him that they didn't fit he honestly was upset and said he would not cash my cheque and didn't want them back.

So I guess a call tomorrow to JRW is in order if I am to make the Scottish rally this next weekend.............. :roll:
