3500s gearlever bush

Hello,
The previous owner made up a teflon bush that fits to the end of the gear lever and subsequently fits into the gear linkage.
The bush he made is cylindrical and the gear change is currently very notchy.
Looking at the parts manual the tip of the lever appears to be rounded/spherical which would imply a "rolling" movement inside the bush when selecting a gear.
Can anyone tell me please if this bush still exists or if there is anything to bear in mind with this assembly?
I've enclosed a couple of images.
With many thanks, Philippe

The one on the bottom of the gearlever isn't available, other than as attached to a new gearlever, the one higlighted in the bottom pic is for a late car that has a steel ball on the gearlever, and a bush in the selector rod.

Ok, thanks.
If my car is an early one, should there be a bush of some sort in the selector rod or is it a metal to metal contact?

No, early ones had the plastic ball on the bottom of the lever, which is the one that falls off, and which I assume is on the new repro gearlevers that are being sold, otherwise you would have to change the selector rod for the one with the bush in it, which would involve dropping the back of the gearbox to remove the remote. It's never metal to metal contact.

Thank you for the explanations.
I'll see if I can't find a suitable plastic ball of the right diameter to replace the one that must have dropped off.
I am not sure what type of plastic I need, acrylic, nylon, teflon or other, but I am sure that something will turn up.
Already a quick scan of Ebay has turned up plastic beads of various diameters...I'll post any successful results.
Thanks again,
Philippe
