It looks do-able though - not a total basket case....

I have a couple of concerns.... The rear seat backs are out of a saloon, the Estates had a unique bench type backrest with a seperate bolster below and those holes in the rear inner wings look like they were made with a cutting torch and they seem to correspond with the mounting points for the back seat. I think someone has already pillaged a few of the more unique bits.

i agree, that back seat definitely isn't right compared to the one and only estate I've had a look at. But then the estate I saw I classified the back seat arrangement a complete ***###! I don't think you could do any worse if starting from scratch!

Until I spoke to Mark I wasn't putting two and two together, but it is the same car that was on a few times before Christmas.

The one which initially started at £2k, and eventually the seller had told somebody here he'd sold for £500.

I was serious as far as i know it was sold to the banger racers together with a P5 saloon i can only assume the P6 was too bad to even banger race

There is a consensus of opinion that the P6 would make a poor banger car even if not rotten. The rear suspension would not hold up that well to side impacts. I was told by an ex banger racer that cars with rear independent suspension can pop the half shaft with a small hit. Then there are the built in crumple zones which would make the front go out of shape quickly. Guess it would be fun to start with to banger one but your race may not last as long as someone in a Cortina. :D

The front end collapses as soon as you get hit on the front, the suspenion just gives way,i know a few people that have bangered them and they all said there rubbish, they say p4s and p5s are the strong

Sold last night for £760 to an unknown bidder.. My max was £740.

Hopefully someone has picked up a nice little project.. :)

Is it really true the Queen owned one??!

First I've heard of it. She did have a P5 and a P5B though. Prince Charles had a 2000TC with wire wheels back in the day too.
I do recall an article in Practical Classics some years back about a BMC Farina estate (can't remember which model) that had the back all decked out in formica and the owner claimed that the Queen had used it for carting her Corgis around. Maybe where the seller is getting a bit confused.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if it re-appears again shortly...this one will run and run....

It wouldnt surprise me if you got a 2nd chance offer to buy it,as I have a funny feeling the bidding was helped along slightly by the seller and his mates!
Remember if you do buy it,take the cash along and be prepared to walk away if you are in any doubt about it.
