Weird carb - what is that?

It's the standard 2200 carb, someone has just fitted it 90 degrees out on the manifold.........

I wonder if it runs...

Certainly! The petrol will be running straight out of the float chamber!

I wonder what he was thinking on this!

He might live near some steep hills.... After all, the HIF is much better at coping with fuel slosh and odd angles...

You've got to think that whoever put that carb really didn't have a clue.

I'll be the first to admit that I've still got a lot to learn but I am wondering if there is anything about the car that suggests it was ever a 2000TC? Could it be a genuine tax exempt 2000SC with a 2.2SC engine fitted? When did Rover stop fitting that style of rocker cover?

The vehicle details for LHF 122K are:
Date of Liability 13 02 2013
Date of First Registration 12 04 1972
Year of Manufacture 1972
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1978cc
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type PETROL
Export Marker N
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour YELLOW
Vehicle Type Approval Not Available

It's a 2000 cam cover on a 2.2 engine. The choke and pet res knobs are early (tax exempt) type. As is the HRW switch. The seats are later nylon box pleat. The front door armrests ar V8 with 4 pot handles. It's had 40 years of mix-n-match. And a sideways carb.....

This is a genuine 2000 SC, I have pictures of an ebay advert it was on a couple of years ago. You can add a 1 in front of the mileage. I believe Mr Nick Dunning actually went to see this car before it acquired this joke of a new engine - the old one was described as rattly and gutless. This car was in Wales the first time I saw it advertised - I recognise the red wheels

On left of engine bay is the sticker giving details of the car, it clearly says 2000 - no mention of TC. Mind you with the carb fitted like that the vendor probably does not know why Rover use the designation 'TC'. If you were to talk to the owner you would probably find that they were age 4 and were still learning about cars. Still getting their head round fuel delivery, but hadn't started learning about cooling - there is no rad either. Wonder if it's had any welding done??
