2.2 complete engine and box

hey all on behalf of a friend im trying to find out how much a complete 2.2 engine and box is worth

all in very good working order!

situated near Diss.

TC or SC?
I got a 2.2SC engine off ebay for £25 and paid the seller another £25 for the gearbox. I'd been half tempted when the engine was listed with a starting price of £50 and had no bidders, then it was relisted with Buy-it-now of £25 so I jumped straight in. It came complete with ancilliaries - starter, carb, alternator, etc.
What I'm trying to say is SC engines aren't worth much at all. He'll probably get more by selling the ancilliaries on eBay separately.
TC engines are likely to be more sought after, but again the carbs might sell for more than the entire engine.
And if it is a TC and has a decent exhaust downpipe - we're all after those!
 
Though as I've found, a decent (by which I assume you mean not re-welded) TC exhaust manifold/downpipe can crack just as easily as one that has been re-welded (including the new one that was sold recently on fleabay), so you're really no better off buying an un-repaired one than welding your own up if you don't pay attention to the cause of the cracking & even then a repaired one should last anyway.
As I've learned through advice & experience this will probably be stress-related due to incorrect fitting of the rest of the exhaust system.
 
I had to go there for a job many years ago. When they told me where I was going I asked them if they were having me on. I'd never heard of it. :LOL:
 
just managed to have a word with him and its deffo a TC, not sure on the condition of exhaust area at this mo in time...and thanks for all the info! :)

this is the person who has the p6

its a TC 2200 manuel 4 speed

all parts are for sale. i.e engine, gearbox, can split the engine if people want certain bits. i.e carbs dizzy... what ever ....
