This is advert for sale guys not a forum, I guess you are all very knowledgeable but come on get a life its all very anal and you sound like you all sport huge Anoraks ! some are excused
Great way not to sell a car lol  As I would guess any boby spending 10k on a rover will be the anorak type.

A lot of money but a series one - V8 - nicely prepared and includes a healthy dealer Mark up.

Oh yes, that V8 is very nice. What a lovely looking beast. Just need to lose the Kenlowe & the electric fuel pump, that car deserves to be as original as poss. Oh, lose the GB plates & the AA badge too!

As to the seller of the 4 pot on this thread, good luck with that one! Bit of an own goal there, nothing like winding up what's probably your largest customer base.

Naively I would expect tyres like that to have any restrictions emblazoned across the sidewall in big letters. If I was looking at that car, I'd almost certainly think "oh, good tyres, great". I suppose they do have the "C" mark pretty prominently, but you'd still have to know what that meant.

The Kumho 857 Radial features a solid and robust carcass. It provides rock-solid stability and was designed for light trucks. Traction is remarkably good. The contour of the tyre help in reducing rolling noise.
Yeah, they've got practically rigid sidewalls :)

Starting bid is £5000. For a car that has supposedly only done 5000 miles, I think £5k isn't a bad price.. even with say £1500 recommissioning costs.

Seems a very reasonable start price, looking at his photos it looks to be in quiet good cosmetic condition, provided there is little rust it would present and easy refurbishment.

When you read the description closely, the only thing going for it is the fact - for what it is worth which in my view is not a lot - that it has done only 5932 miles . The bonnet and boot are going to need a complete strip and repaint , and when you add to that the various little knocks and dents - no photos of those of course - it sounds to me like a complete repaint . In addition, an engine that has stood for lord knows how many years is likely to have a number of problems, not least sticking piston rings and /or if it is anything like my 2000TC which had stood for many years, erosion of the bores . Add to that a complete brake overhaul, and you are into serious costs to make it "as new " again

Hi,

Personally low mileage classics do not appeal to me at all, I’d even go as far to say that I’d actively avoid an extreme case like this one.

As a user of my classics, not just in the way we currently use the road rally car, all the many classics I’ve owned over the years have had to rack up road miles as regular use cars, I have found that low mileage generally just means increased purchase cost, it seldom means lower running costs. I’d much rather see evidence of regular use and regular maintenance than low mileage, after all if low mileage is the reason for the cars high value I’m soon going to spoil that by using it.

As they say classic car ownership is a broad church and “each to their own”. I’m not meaning to insult this car in anyway it’s just absolutely not the car for me.

If the car were - recommissioned properly - paintwork rectification carried out - generally detailed - asking price could be justified.
To expect a new owner to carry out these works on top of the healthy asking price is unrealistic.
