1966 p6 V8 on Ebay.

Yeah I'll agree on that. Like I say though if anybody is interested I'd be willing to drive 3 miles have a look and see if I can shed any more light on it.

That paint does NOT need any more light shedding on it

A very odd car. Clearly a V8, but it looks to me like it was already tax exempt! Granted the boot lid could have been swapped - those badges say 1971 build - but the choke and reserve levers are the hooked type, which again say '71. Surely no one would have gone to the trouble of swapping them around?

Perhaps someone wanted a cheap way of retaining the registration for some reason?

Chris

I like the way it says 'unrestored' in the description when you can clearly see in the photos it didn't leave the factory looking like that.

Quote from WikipediA "Initially this was a rolling exemption applied to any vehicles over 25 years old, however the cutoff date was frozen in 1997"

Can't remember when historic tax exemption started, but ths car would not be included then,
Wonder if the chassis numbers been changed.......

Jim, both the car as a '66 and it's presumed origin as a '71 or perhaps '72 V8 are tax exempt. Absolutely no point from that perspective of swapping the identities!

Chris

Chris,
Depends when it was done. If it was done in 1995 the 2000 would have been tax exempt but the V8 wouldn,t. Thats why I said Icouldn't remember when exemption started. The fixed date was set in 1998.
I agree now it probably irrelevent, but it shows you need to know what you are buying.

Yep. If you are interested I could go have a look for you but it really doesn't look promising.

Rich.

Thanks for the offer but I think I have enough problems without having to get into legal issues with it but would be intresting to know for sure

Although i am curious and would love a v8 tax excempt p6 and its my favorite p6 colour
