£10 for 4L Castrol Oil at Asda

Was in local Asda this evening and found they had Castrol GTX on sale, I got a couple of 4L cans of 10W/40 part-synthetic for £10 each. As well as 10W/40, think I saw 5W/30. Personally, wouldn't use the 10W/40 in my P6 but it's what I use in my daily driver which is due an oil change - so I'm well chuffed :) .

As an aside, bit annoying that a lot of oil only comes in 4L cans nowadays. I think Castrol always used to come in 4.5L cans (maybe 5L before that??). You end up buying a 2nd can just to get the extra pint of oil you need (or pay over the odds for small 1L bottle  ). And the price of some fully synthetic oils is astounding! I wonder if the manufacturers just keep upping the price of engine oil in inverse proportion to car makers' increased service intervals? .

I dropped lucky at Asda once, they were getting rid of some Mobil oils, I got 10/40 Super S semi synth for £5 for 5L, I cleared the shelf !!, they did have a 5l can of Mobil 1 0/30 fully synth for £7, I didn't buy it because nothing I have uses it, but I should have just bought it and sold it on ebay, it's over £40 a can !

Try Wilkinsons . They were (I'll check) selling Carlube Triple R fully synthetic for £15 for 4litres
That's close to half price
