Hello, before I invest in the Weber 500 / Edelbrock conversion for my '72 P6 V8, can someone kindly tell me the best inlet manifold to use? Edelbrock or Offenhauser? Many thanks
Hello to everyone,
I have read a number of excellent threads about installing a Hotwire setup on our cars, but I still have a number of questions and hope some of the experienced members can point me in the right direction.
The objective is to make the simplest installation possible almost...
Quick question please.
Is it possible to fit a small bore silencer and then tail pipe onto large bore downpipe?
My very early 3500s is confusing me and I need to replace the tail pipe.
The outside diameter of the tail pipe tube as it enters and exits the rear tail pipe cylinder is 54mm which...
Hi everyone,
I have just done a mini-rebuild of my 41317 distributor on my very early 3500S and as there is not a lot of reference to this distributor on this forum, I thought I'd share a couple of tricks I learnt while doing it.
I was toying with the idea of fitting a Mallory Unilite, but funds...
If anyone would like my partially stripped LHD car for parts FOC, then please send me a PM.
The car is located in Paris (13eme arrondissement).
Good base unit with plenty of good parts left.
Was Davos white, now French police blue.
Cheers, Philippe

Hello, can anyone tell me please what the clutch should feel like on a 3500s, especially compared to a modern car?
I have fixed the gearbox rod/finger/bush problem that was stopping the car from engaging third gear and can now use it.
The previous owner changed the clutch master and slave...
It has been a painfull long saga this....Previous owner fitted steel nuts instead of brass ones to the exhaust manifold studs...impossible to undo as the nut stripped the thread on the stud due to heat and rust.....studs refused to budge from manifold even when glowing red hot with molegrips...
Hello,
I am finishing off replacing the selector finger and shaft bushes on my 3500s. The rear gearbox rubber mount was completely broken up and soggy, by what looks like the gearbox oil leaking onto it.
Can any one tell me if it is possible to change the rear seal with the box fitted in the...
Hello everyone,
I am preparing to fit a BW65 and am trying to find the following parts.
Can anyone help please?
The parts are shown in yellow in the following images, but are as follows:

Hello everyone,
I am looking for a selector striker lever for my 3500s which has a very unprecise shift with the passage from 2nd to 3rd impossible. Here is a link to the image (thanks to Ian at Rover Classics)

It is part number 622369.

As my car is coming out of a 35 year hibernation, I have been noticing a few new noises on the first few occasions that I have been gently running it around the carpark.
The latest one happens when depressing the clutch in first gear and rolling to a stop, I hear a metallic whiring noise almost...
Hello, can anyone tell me please if it is possible to find the seal that holds front the quarter light glass in it's channel, or should I just bond it in with some black sealent like Sikaflex?
Thanks,
Philippe
After 36 years of hibernation, I finally drove my newly aquired 3500s around the car park! The gearchange is hard due to the nylon gearlever accorn having been replaced by a cylindrical section of teflon, but what concerns me the most is the sound of the box, somewhere between an Austin seven...
Hi,
My recently acquired 3500s is running badly. The previous owner had rebuilt the engine (he's runs a garage specialising in Aston Martins) but here is the low down.
The car starts on choke fine but if I try to accelerate the revs are struggling to rise and then there is a backfire. The car...
Hello,
The previous owner made up a teflon bush that fits to the end of the gear lever and subsequently fits into the gear linkage.
The bush he made is cylindrical and the gear change is currently very notchy.
Looking at the parts manual the tip of the lever appears to be rounded/spherical which...
Hello, I've just received a new water pump from one of our reputed suppliers and I noticed "8mm bolt"
written on the pulley face pointing to where the four bolts go that hold the pulley on.
Is this a known modification?
Seems odd to remanufacture a pump and then go metric...
Cheers,
Philippe
Apologies if this subject has come up before, but I couldn't find anything when searching.
Both of my cars are series 2, one a French spec car and one a Belgian. Both of them have Mk1 stamped after the chassis number on the left hand side inner wing (when sitting in the car).
Can anyone explain...
Hello, my newly aquired '72 3500s has a small black bodied rectangular convex panoramic type rear view mirror and my '72 v8 auto a silver metal 'normal width' mirror. What is the story please about these mirrors? Was the convex type an option? When I first saw it, I thought it was a wrong...

Hello,
I am carrying out a light rebuild of a 3500s engine before fitting it to my '72 3500 auto.
I was thinking of putting on a pair of '89 rebuilt heads (that I already have) with composite gaskets as well
as a new cam, chain and followers. The car will stay on its SUs.
A popular mod for RRs...
Hello,
I've just replaced my wiper motor in my French spec lhd 72 V8 and I did not pay enough attention to where the three connectors go
for the delay unit. The wiper motor uses an idiot proof multiplug connector, but not the delay unit!
Can someone please tell me which wire goes where?
Also...
Popping down to my local Halfords is not an option here in France, so I was wondering are the windscreen wipers on a P6 specific or a standard length?...and if so are they the same as anything else I can 'cross reference'..
Any advice gladly appreciated!
Thanks Philippe
Hello,
Latest horror discovery was to find my timing set to around 26°btdc at tickover only to advance to 26° at high engine speed...hence no advance at all!
The vacuum advance is dead and the centrifugal advance seized solid. The distributor is soaking nicely in WD40 over the weekend.....
Does...
