finally got the car back from the garage after the carb rebuild and now it's running beautifully, except for the small problem of it not starting, at all... ever. balls!! thanks for all the help dafydd

hi chris that's what i originally thought, but he insisted it was a valve inside that began with an "S" i bloody forgot what he actually said :oops: - such was my annoyance

hey i got the car back from the garage today and it turns out that a valve the carb is gone. there's too much fuel getting through and causing the original miss and now that the fuel filter is on there's so much getting through that the revs are all over the place options are: new carb...

hi we've tried everything with the bits, but there's just too much and short of changing the fuel tank and line there isn't anything left to try. anyway... i forgot to mention the current problem only happens when the engine is warm (if that makes a difference) thanks dafydd

hi Chris I'll try that one next. I've already run a few tanks of petrol through it and it's still the same and i have regular problems with the float chamber flooding/full of bits, but that problem predates this one by almost a year thanks Dafydd

that seems like a very smart solution that looks to be a common problem. I already checked the other side and it look "good", but then so did the other one up until it went. I'm definitely going to keep an eye in it from now on though.
