worth while?

hi there,im thinking of purchasing a 2000 "wreck" for spares for my 71 v8,more so for the mechanical parts,eg,final drive, steering box/linkages,and some glass andd body parts.could i have some ideas as to wether id be fitting wrong items from that car to my 3500(series one) and wasting money, not to mention some time.thanks karl

Hello Karl,

Diff, half shafts I think, some suspension bits, front brakes to name but a few are all different between the two. If you want a spares car, you need another 3500.

Ron.

thanks Ron,ill revisit the owner and see if he will part with it for next to nothing. i understand he has had it for a long time and he may just wanna get rid of it!?

Hi Karl, don't buy it for mechanical spares. Almost everything is different. Body, glass and interior parts are mostly interchangeable but most of the suspension, brakes, diff, steering box etc is different. But if it's free or close to it then you have nothing to lose and spare parts can be distributed throughout the Rover community. You might make a bit of cash out of it to sort your trans problems out. :)

ok then, thanks guys, great advice.appreciate your help.its reasonbly close but would cost me to transport it back as well(car trailer).i dont know how to get in touch with him,so going over (the other side of the hill) could be one wasted trip anyways.
