wood veneer

i put in wood veneer as on ebay and am very pleased with the result , however the large piece in the dash wont sit properly as the formica was pre curved it seems and the replacement veneer is flat, anyone got over this properly, maybe clamping the veneer to the formica and steaming it or otherwise, plenty of people must have done this now, thanks in advance,rich

It sounds like you could be missing the fixings at the top of the dash rail that will hold the curve of the veneer. The replacement veneer should hold the curve perfectly if these fixings are there.

After trimming to length for a S2,mine fitted pretty well,then noticed it wasnt fitting into a clip,so now its almost perfect.

Ooh! That's nice Dave! I'd only seen replacement wood done in mahogany or similar before. That's oak, I presume?

Wouldn't you glue the vener to the old Formica ?

I fitted a set of these to a car recently (or was it last year.... my brain aches !)

Dave, they are the correct thickness to replace the formica completely, I used the old formica bits to get the correct measurements to trim the new ones to length, from memory I had to trim the dash piece, and possibly a couple of the others.

I had no problems with the dash piece in terms of staying put, as others have suggested you may be missing the top clips.

They certainly look nice.

Yup!! crisyjon,thats him,,send a pm via ebay with your Email address and ask for a set,he will do you an off ebay deal,and will haggle the ££'s if your bold enough to ask!!
I think I got mine for about £30 inc p/p a couple of years back!.
