wipers won't switch off!

Hi everyone,

I'm having a bit of trouble with me wipers at the mo.They switch on to slow and will also go on to fast but the bloomin things won't switch off!Thought it might be the switch itself so took one off my scrap car and no change,also changed the bit under the bonnet,don't know what its called,but the piece with 3 wires connected and the pipe for the delay.

Any thoughts most grateful as the only way i can switch it off is by turning the ignition off,which isn't ideal whilst your driving.
 
I'm guessing it might be the self parking mechanism on the motor in that the motor is not getting a signal that the blades are at the bottom of the screen.

It's worth taking it out and cleaning the contacts
The bit with 3 wires is the delay mechanism
 
What model have you got ? It's not too hard on the V8 with the "rack and pinion" type drive - basically remove the wiper arms , under the nut holding the tube to the motor and pull the internal wire out
 
Mines a '71 2000 SC.Will have a go at the weekend.Coming home tonight it did switch off by itself,not as soon as i switched it off but a few minutes later so hopefully its like you think and just the contacts need a clean.
 
Had a crack at it today,decided to just swap the motor from me scrap car in the end.Not to bad to do,take the wipers off,take the air valance off then whip the motor out.Put the other one in and its working fine.
