Why My Car Has Been A V7 All Along.

Right. The engine is finally knackered. Some big end knocking ocurred, hence a total rebuild is imminent. Will revert to the members projects section for updates on the same.

Might you be better buying a known second hand engine? They do pop up - was definitely the right strategy for me!

Not a chance. Firstly, I want it 'numbers matching', secondly I build the best V8s.

I like your thinking! I have always been an engine rebuilder and have only ever swapped and engine once betwen 2 cars I owned so that I could gain time on the engine rebuild process and still have my daily runner in use.
Keeping the engine number and having the provinence of the engine complete is quite important (to me) were I to swap in another engine I would somehow feel my ownership of the car to be diminished as I would have a lesser understanding of what the engine codition was. :?
Plus I find engine rebuilding to be a simple task but one that gives you great pleasure and satisfaction.

I couldn't agree more. For the most part. Where I differ is the 'simple task' thingy. It is generally true, but there is one exception. Until you manage to get a Buick engine oiling, you've lost eight of your lives.
