Volvo parts in a Rover? - Swedish connection?

Again I turn to the learned members of this forum to help me. Please don´t think I´m daft, but do any of you know if any brakeparts (preferably the servo and the brake master cylinder) are interchangeable betwen a P6 V8 and a Volvo Amazon or a Volvo 142? All three cars seem to have Girling brakes, and I know that the pads are the same. Since I live in Sweden it would make my life a lot easier if that was the case.

Hi

They may look the same but you'd need to check the internal diameter of the master cylinder and the ratio of the servo

I need Harvey P6 to tell us how you do the latter .The former is stamped on the outside of the bore

The only way I can tell the ratio of the servo is by research I'm afraid, not by just looking. Having said that, servos of similar size run similar ratios and as such there will only be a variation in the pedal effort required. Obviously the use of the correct unit is the best way, but if that's not available I can't see why a similar sized unit couldn't be substituted.

I would also think that as far as the hydraulic fittings are concerned, the Rover will be Imperial, but the Volvo is likely to be Metric.

Thanks all for your input. Much appreciated. It´s sometimes difficult to get ahold of parts in good nick i Sweden and the postage from England is staggering when it comes to parts larger than wheelnuts and wiperblades. Finding substitutes that are already available in Sweden would therefore make things easier.
Thanks again.

I was going to add that the front pads may look the same but that doesn't mean the friction material is the same.
