V8 unleaded conversion.

Hi all. I'm taking delivery of my first P6 on Saturday. A 1969 series 1 V8. I'm planning on swapping the heads for ones that can use unleaded. Can anyone suggest a good place for a top end gasket set? Many thanks.

Very common to get v8 bits.

Try the usual p6 suppliers and also rimmer bros in linc or any range rover/land rover dealer.

I am doing the same thing and gasket are about £6-8 each.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that from 1971 onwards, unleaded could be used, however mine is a 1969. Does anyone know if you can tell what year the heads are from casting numbers or such like?

I think they will alll run fine with unleaded. Since it is an aluminuim head the seats are inserts and hard enough to cope with unleaded fuel. If you want to know whether any harm is being caused run a compression test before you start using unleaded fuel. Any errosion of the seat will show up as a loss of compression.
