V8 Replacement

The block of my V8 needs replacing. Obviously, in an ideal world I'd just drop in a new one from the likes of RPi. As they are around the £1500 mark I was wondering whether there are any tried and tested, but nevertheless cheaper, alternatives. What about second hand blocks from SD1s or Range Rovers?

You could fit an SD1 or Range Rover block as long as its a 3.5 Litre version so that it matches your heads, etc.
Check carefully however that your 'new' block is not cracked, the main bearings are sound and that it has clean oil-ways.

RIMMER BROTHERS can supply all your V8 neeeds new and some second hand. short and full blocks so you could build up your own block. I believe they also give you a few quid for your old block.

Not sure where in the country you are, but a friend of mine is a fabricater/builder of rover v8 drag cars and always has late model engines from 3.5 to 4.6 !!!! He rebuilds them to customer specification. He's a nice bloke and very reasonable, works in the Heathrow area. Let me know if you want his number ??
Cheers

J ;)
