V8 conversion

Hi all. I'm thinking about swapping the 3.5 to a 3.9 or 4.6. I'm not wanting to go the fuel injection route because of the wiring implications, so I'm wondering, will the carbs fit back on? ( I know i'll have to up the jets) and can the distributor be fitted? Many thanks
 
Personally because of reliability issues I would only go up to a 3.9.
If you use the hotwire EFI wiring it in is easy.

If you mean the EFI it's fitted to early Land/Range Rover and IIRC is the system that's not fitted with the flapper type air control unit as was fitted on the SD1.
