Can any one suggest what to do.
My 73 v8 took me to Kent and back no probs.
got home and put her to bed.
next day, try to start but nowt.
She turns over ok but wont start.
Changed the plus.
Pitted points. Changed them.
Cleaned dizzy cap and rotar arm.
Charged battery.
Checked leads.Replaced a couple.

Still, no joy.

Becoming v. frustrated, especially in this cold weather.
Any suggestions any one?

Dickie.

Hi Dickie,

Have you established that there is a spark at all the plugs?, you may need a helper to turn the key but if you get a plug out and lie it on the block you should see a spark when cranked.

If you can see the spark then it is possibly either fuel or air. Is the filter blocked and is fuel getting to the carbs.

If you don't get a spark at the plug then there may be a loose or broken wire in the ignition circuit. There is a part of the circuit that is often over looked and that is where it goes through the brake fluid res, the wires go brittle and brake off.

Have a look at the wiring diagrams and get a picture in your head first before getting your hands dirty.

Hope this is of some help. I presume you have but the fuses are always worth checking.

How Cold I wonder? Around here we can get gas line freezing which could also be the cause. Any gas (petrol) in the carb?
Good Luck
