Spare wheel cover for boot mounted spare - Anyone know the best place to buy one?

Hi everyone
I've just bought a 1965 Series 1 (my first classic car) and it is fitted with a boot-mounted spare. Could anyone tell me the best place to buy a cover for the wheel? I'm not bothered about logos etc, but just want to protect and keep wheel and boot lid clean. I've seen loads for 4x4s, but are there any that are P6 friendly which won't deprive us of food on the table for the rest of the month? :D

Thanks
Johnno

Hello Johnno,
Congratulations on your recent purchase (a wise investment and a source of great pleasure).
Original Rover covers turn up on e-bay regularly. There are plenty about . I occassionally (I can't spell) get offered a brand new one, usually in black and there are plenty of used but good condition ones about.
Regards, John.

Thanks, John. I must say I'm very excited about the new purchase, but I think she would look much improved if the spare tyre had a cover to protect the wheel rim from the elements. Sounds like I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled on ebay or in the mags.

I am in shape - round IS a shape, OK?

Johno,

JR wadhams sell them new. (number is on the main page under supplier links).

I wouldn't recommend mounting the wheel without the cover. There is somthing that washes off the tyre that marks the paint. my cover had a cut and let water through and my boot lid needs a respray.

I have also looked at alternatives from the pricey rover item and 4x4 covers are no use because the tyre size. I think some of these small soft roads may be a closer size match or find a company that sells trailer accessories as they might have somthing.

The was a couple of funny covers on ebay a while back, the one I remember was like the suzuki rhino but it was mounting another rhino.

If you want a cheap cover then have a look at VW camper clubs/suppliers, they are the only other car with 14" ish wheels and external mounting.

Colin, you are an absolute star! Went to J R Wadham's website and found what I was looking for @£25....after working out his search facility eventually. Many thanks for taking the time to post - you've solved my problem.
