Some electrical problems, P6B -71

Hello, new to this forum and to Rover, I've got a P6B 3500 1971 with some electrical problem, no turn signals, hazard, instruments except tachometer and ampmeter, fuel gauge which works, no indicator lamps...when I rev the engine, the oil lamp glimmer but doesnt work when ignition is on and at idle.

I Found three wires under dash, anyone who know what they are for? See picture.

If anyone got a wiring diagram and could send me, it would be great.

check for an earth wire problem, possibly behind the instrument panel?

That ought not to be a problem as a '71 car should have the S1 wiring loom with the fuse box in the engine bay and lots of inline fuses dotted all over the car...

First thing to do is to get everything working with a fully charged battery. Almost certainly fuses somewhere, but just possibly a dodgy ignition switch (damp over the years? Try working it a lot to free things up?).

Then you can re-assess what is happening with the ignition light. If still the same then I would imagine you have a charging fault! Most likely you have the Lucas AC alternator with separate 4AC regulator. Renew the regulator and change the brushes in the alternator and you ought to be sorted. Both readily available, ask if stuck!

You really need a copy of both the workshop manual and the parts manual. These are available from the club and there are lots on Ebay UK as well.

Now I got a wiring diagram (thank's vaultsman) and now oillamp, turn signals and hazard works after a little work. I even found that ignition lamp relay was broken.
It was a lot of oxidation at hazard unit's connection, that's why turn signal didn't work.

Now I should try to fix brakelamp and gear selector's illumination lamp which glow very weak when I activate handbreake!!! Only 7volt's there.

My english is bad, I know...
