I was once told by an old boy in the motor trade many moons ago that the company that upgraded the cars for the police would sabatarge the cars in a way that they would wear out quicker and so they would get more work out of them. He's quote was something on the lines of "they put sand in the gear boxes". But well could be an urban myth????
I doubt that, and it would only happen initially as the Old Bill have their own workshops and do all the work themselves, or they certainly did at that time. Next time Plod give you a "producer" ask to see the MOT for their squad car......
To link to threads together, I've noticed that the SD, on the way to some community event, used recently to catch three robbers, was infact one of the cars involved in the "Liver Run"
