Today my friend fitted a brand new design electronic igniton system on My P6 V8

This has only Been avalible for a few days and the one he just fitted is one of the first to be sold from the factory.

So far all is well and its a fairly easy fit even though you have to extend the 2 wires because they are designed for V8 Landrovers and Range Rovers not P6's which have the coil mounted further away.

The Kit Cost's about £30 which is a fraction of Lumenition and neatly fits under the dizzy cap

Looks like the pertronix/aldon kit. Must work the same.

The tend to sell for around £80. so £30 is a bargin.

Is it generally on sale yet? Any details of where to buy from?

Sorry for lack of reply have been on my deathbead with flu.

The kit I obtained came from a local company specialising in landrover and rangerover parts called

Hi Lord Rover,

I'm pretty sure it's this one from simonbbc, who also sells on ebay. I assume you've had to fit a 12V coil and route a new 12V supply as well?

I've been trading emails with a guy who's fitted one of his electronic distributors into his Landy 109. He had problems with the ignition module on the side of the dizzy, and ended up buying and fitting a separate module. Doesn't seem like they're OE quality but only £85, so he seems generally happy.

Well its now been over 2 weeks and nearley 1000 miles and everything is working fine.

I have even noticed a slight increase in fuel ecomomy. :D

Hello, I've just bought the same kit to fit to my P6 V8. I was wondering, where did you take the new 12v feed from to bypass the ballast resistor? Also, did you need to elongate the slot in the distributor body to get it to fit right? I had a bit fiddle with the kit today on a spare distributor but the cap won't close properly because of the way the wires sit in the slot  If possible could you please post a picture of the kit fitted so I can get an idea of how it's done? or give me some idiot-proof instructions on how your mate fitted it? The instructions on the packet seemed pretty straight forward but I'm not too good with electrics! Cheers, Will.

Hello Lord Rover,

Reading this post with interest. Have you noticed any difference in performance at all?
