In an effort to cure the terminal rattling of my gear lever, I've purchased a second hand replacement, figuring that it cannot be any worse then the existing! The existing lever is liberally smeared with grease around the nylon collar. Am I advised to do the same with the replacement or is it basically "self lubricating"?
