Rear decker panel..

Sorry with the so many questions, but I'm on a steep learning curve. My rear decker panel is in good condition, but the mounting bolts/studs that go vertically down inside the boot at either end have been cut. Can these studs be changed, or is it goodnight vienna to the decker panel. The remains seem to be very firmly welded or rusted in place on the decker panel. :?: :?

They are captive. I repaired mine by cutting it at the base and welding a new one in. Often they shear when removed due to metal fatigue. They are a time consuming nuisance ..... then try to remove the screws that rust in on the L shaped retaining strips .... most come out and then others will not budge, grind and you ruin the metal on the strip, and use a chisel and ruin it too!! Then try to fit the rubber, cutting new aftermarket crap to shape and you have done half a day plus !!!!!! Good luck :)

I've been rooting through my garage today and have found a length of threaded coach bolt, so I'm going to grind the old stud off flush, drill it out and make up a new stud with the coach bolt and a couple of nuts. Once Ive got it bolted up with the nuts, I'll just tack weld them into place. I think I'll be using copper ease on the thread inside the boot to prevent it rusting in future though.. I'll post some pics when I've sorted it.

Clean all the threads up thoroughly too and use new stainless nuts if possible for future, as well as copper slip. MAke sure the nuts are as free as possible before fitting. PS who is the bird on the bonnet of the car? The missus?
