Questions concerning tuned V8 engines - Advice sought on engine modifications

Check out their site, there's a copy of the article about it in Retro Cars, its awsome ! (not in terms of speed, but in terms of engineering)

Did you see them on that Thunder Races ? on one of the satelite channels, they built a rear engined motor by fitting the engine from a saab into the back of something else (can't remember what), as usual their engineering was impeccable and they actually finished within the allotted time, where the other teams were given extra time to finish.

Talking about crazy cars , does anyone know what happened to a special with a body resembling a Mk 1 Capri with a Rolls Royce front griille running a Rolls Royce aero engine - 27 litre I think
John Dodds was the creator , he was a transmission expert in Surrey
I used to think it was just b*llshit till I saw it in Guildford

'The Beast' as it is known, had been in spain for ~20 years or so, but is back in Blighty now with John Dodd's son Paul. The mauve 'Capri' body was lost by fire many years ago. Rolls forced the dropping of the grille via the courts. It was rebuilt with another glass body, this time a yellow 'estate' like a giant Reliant Scimitar. John Dodd didn't build it initially - he bought it off the 'transmission builder' who did. I think it was really built around the sister engine 'Meteor' as the Merlin is a constant RPM supercharged engine and not suited for car use. I think I've remembered that all ok!

When I worked at Roll Royce I was shown a leter sent by the German govt in the late 70's early 80's regarding the beast, The line 'Allthough the autobahns in some areas do not have a speed limit as such, speeds of over 200 mph are considered anti social'
