Pressure guage sender

Hello Rover fans. I just bought a very smart P6 V8 from a dealer in Brisbane. It's in good shape but is missing the pressure guage sender unit, the hole is plugged and the wire is chopped.
Do I have to try to source a P6 sender or will any other unit do the job, eg early Range Rover?
I would appreciate any info on this. The local parts supplier says the P6 unit is no longer available.
 
HI, I BELIEVE THERE ARE 2, POSSIBLY MORE SIZES OF THREAD THAT FIT INTO THE PUMP, TAKE THE PLUG OUT IF IT IS A BOLT,AND CHECK THE THREAD SIZE. THEY DO TURN UP ON EBAY, BUT YOU MAY WELL GET ONE FROM A GOOD ROVER V8 SUPPLIER. AS LONG AS YOUR OIL LIGHT GOES OUT ON START UP, YOU HAVE OIL PRESSURE, THE V8,s ARE AN EXTREEMLY HARDY ENGINE, AND CAN EASILY TOLERATE A BIT OF A DROP IN STD SPEC OIL PRESSURE. IF IT FLICKERS WHILST DRIVING, THAT COULD MEAN OIL PUMP PROBLEMS!!
