Excellent news Tina, I think you were getting close to giving it a choked barrel, never mind a choke O ring!

Hi guys . I wont try to write anything that competes with the manuals / bibles out there . I,ll just try to encourage any one thinking of servicing their tired SU carbs .
We,ve done about 60 odd miles here and there this weekend ,and i can say she has never run better or smoother .
I would recommend Southern Carburettors for the service kits ( am i allowed to do that Rich ? ) One of the usual suspects gave me a price ,( Not Ian by the way ) did the deal ( card number and all ! ) then called back half hour later and told me he wasn't making enough profit and they were 20 quid more !!! I went to southern carbs ! Worked out at 60 quid inc post and packing .
Their is nothing overly complicated , just allow enough time , couple of hours each and follow the manual . I did the throttle butterfly shaft seals first then re assembled , then the choke O rings and seals .
Take loads of picks as the 2d diagrams in the manual is hard to understand when re assembling the return spring assemblies . I had the luxary of two borrowed old carbs to copy the spring assemblys .
Set them up to the best of my ability with a piece of hose pipe to listen to / balance them , and set the mixture with the lift pins .
Have it booked in with my tame carburettor guru next Saturday for fine tuning .
Hope this helps anyone thinking of a carb rebuild , the worst that can happen is you have a few afternoons in the garage doing solvent abuse ! meths is good for cleaning the bits and a bit trippy !!! :D

Cool Rich . Don,t Wanna be braking the rules . Gotta go answer the phone , i think it,s Ron Dennis wanting to borrow my piece of hose pipe to set up one of his motors :D
