If you have the credit card style d.lic check the expiry date - DVLA neglected to mention they are only valid for 10 years and it's up to you to renew same - at £17 odd quid - if you are out of date plod will fine you and your insurance will be in-valid.

The expiry date is on the front - in very small print!

another stealth tax on motorists - you got the money now go and fill some bleedin pot holes.

I'm starting to save up, mine is due in a couple of months time. For the new photo, I can't make my mind up, grow a full beard in the next month, or have my hair really short. This next photo has got to last me another ten years.
Originally they never did tell us there would be a charge for the next photo to be changed.
Does it really cost them £17 to swop a photo over or is there a profit to be made out of the British Motorist AGAIN.

Of course it doesn't cost them £17. But if you believe our local council it costs them £22 to transfer a CPZ permit to another car. It takes them 30 seconds to do & a sheet of A4. It also costs £20 to get a refund on a permit if you sell your car apparently, therefore making it uneconomic to claim after a certain period of time has elapsed. It's legalised extortion, pure & simple. You as a motorist, are the biggest cash cow in the governments tax armoury.
