P6 V8 oil pressure sender

Guage please Harvey.

I am now pretty sure I need to bolt in a P6 V8 oil pressure transmitter into the SD1 oil pump, so as the P6 guage reads correctly. Does anybody know if the SD1 Vitesse and P6 V8 senders are the same thread?

P6 oil pressure sender thread is 1/2"-20 UNF.

I've got a Britpart replacement in which I'm not too happy with...where can you pick up a Smith's?

The transmitter threads for both the P6B and SD1 oil pump front covers are the same, but having said that, an SD1 sender will not read correctly if paired with a P6B gauge. I tried years ago, and it was a non starter. A friend recently tried an OEM SD1 transmitter in his P6B, and the oil pressure did not register on the gauge at all.

The current replacement senders are fine, provided they are not fitted to the car.

Rimmer Bros list OE oil pressure transmitters for early Range Rovers. The part number 555947 is the same as those for the P6B. Price is 191.23 Pounds inc VAT.

OIl pressure transmitters for the SD1 have different part numbers.

You could go down the capillary guage route if you want a true reading.

...which is where I'm heading. Been on the lookout for one and picked this up from ebay. Most Smith's read 0-100psi but happy to win this 0 - 60 psi 270 degree gauge.
