Hi,

Ive had a quote on insuring my P6, I'm 24 with a clean licence & no convictions

How does £140 PA fully comprehensive sound? (Limited to 1500 miles PA which is adiquate for me)

Can anyone recommend another insurer to try aswell please?

Thanks for now......John :D

Hi there,
without knowing all the facts I'd say that sounds quite reasonable pricewise. I would suggest that you have an agreed valuation with your insurer though, it costs a small amount more but should the worst happen you know exactly what you're getting rather than some faceless office bod somewhere deciding that because it's an old car it obviously isn't worth much and paying you peanuts. Having had VW's in the past I used to use a company called H.I.C based in bishops stortford essex, they're very good people to deal with, cheap and understand your needs as a classic car driver as they all drive classics themselves so you could give them a call but I do think you have a good deal there already, best of luck Lister.

Hi John,

have you tried Footman James yet? their number is 0843 357 1908 or I think you can get a quick quote on line at http://www.footmanjames.co.uk
They offer a discount for belonging to an owners club such as the Rover P6 Club
They were certainly the cheapest when I checked around for my last renewal.

Have fun

John

That sounds a bit high, I'm paying £98 with Footman James to cover the P4 & P6 unlimited mileage.

Depends on your postcode and if you have a secure garage.

I just insured the Jag with Peter James 0845 0999 500 - alot cheaper than footman james for a "not quite a classic yet" car.

That sounds pretty good to me. I'm with Peter James for my v8 land rover paying £160 and they quoted £200 with all my modifications and 3.9 v8 for my p6, and I'm 26. Once you pass 25 and have a few years with them it will possibly drop, but in general insurance premiums have risen sharply over the past year.

That sounds good. I'm currently paying £190 with Footman James for the 2000TC and Land Rover 109 unlimited mileage, which struck me as a bit high but I'd left the renewal too late to shop around.
I do like the reassurance of their "free" breakdown cover though. Something worth checking with other insurers.

Just got my insurance renewed through Footman James. £163.15 for me and my partner on unlimited mileage and business use too :D
