Hi,

Last week I changed all the plugs, leads, distributor cap & rotor arm and she ran ok (same as before)

Then the other day I changed the condenser and the points and now she wont start!, It went back exactly as the old one was ie with the insulating washer etc so I cat see whats wrong?

I set the points to 15 thou, even put the old bits back in and she still didnt start, theres plenty of spark across the points with the dizzy cap removed so I am stumped

Has anyone had a similar problem when changing points and condenser??

Regards ..John

See if the baseplate is sliding about all over the place, if so the peg on the points has missed the locating hole in the arm from the vac unit.

More likely your new condensor is faulty - there are currently large numbers of Chinese made condensors around which either fail on fitting, fail after a few miles use or (worst of all) fail intermittantly. I'd try another condensor - the older the better! And just for once a Lucas badge could just be an advantage!

No rotor arm fitted whilst dizzy cap removed to check for a spark.

Tried the old condenser after and it still sparks the same across the points but engine wont start, I'll try that vacum advance locking pin again, I think it located ok though.
