Hello, I've been avoiding Rover forums (fora?) because it reminds me of how much work that I have to do. But time has come to get busy and get my Rovers on the road again.

I have a '67 and '69 TC and a '70 3500S. (I have two more complete TCs sitting in the woods about 50 miles from home here in Annapolis MD, USA.) None have been running since the mid '90s. My excuses since then are: remodeling a house, moving, major remodeling at the new place, finishing a Masters degree, adopting a daughter from China, moving to California, moving back from California (all work related), adopting a second daughter from China, rebuilding and modifying an '87 Audi quattro sedan (still in work), retiring from Federal Service and starting a new job the next day and finally we are embarking on yet another major home remodeling. But enough whining.

I bought my '67 in 1970 and for many wonderful years it was our only car. (My wife paid the down payment so I had to marry her... but that's just between us, OK?) The 3500S was my ride of choice while commuting in D.C. traffic during the late '80s... air conditioning and automatic transmissions do have their value. I have disassembled a total of three (66/68/71) TCs and have more spares than should be legal.

I've made many modifications to my cars over the years. My '67 has 3500S brakes, a 3500 3.08 differential (no, not ideal but it works and is bullet proof), MSD ignition (the single best mod ever), currently it has mounted a Vertex magneto and many, many small changes. My 3500S has a big bore exhaust sytem, uses a Mallory distributor and a Euro brake system as the U.S. spec dual system had no feedback/feel. I have mounted a pair of HS8 carbs on the V8 manifold but have yet to mount and run it in this configuration.

For several years I was friends with a fellow that lived in San Antonio, TX that was perhaps the Rover P6 expert/fanatic in the U.S. He had many outrageous projects and I learned a lot from his experience. I have pictures of a field where he had collected close to a hundred P6 parts cars. But he disappeared in a cocain addiction and all that experience was lost.

I've seen several threads on this site to which I can offer my experience.

More as appropriate and looking forward to learning from your experience,
Gross Scruggs

Lordy! I visited San Antonio around 20 years back & had no idea that there may have been a field-full of one of my favourite cars within visiting distance. I'd have gone there instead of The Alamo.

Hi there. Welcome to the forum. I'd love to know what happened to the field full of P6s in San Antonio!? I'm rebuilding a European spec '72 V8 but would like to get hold of a couple of bits and pieces from the NADA cars, namely the front door storage compartments, centre console armrest and window switch panel for electric windows, plus a couple of US licence plate plinths. A US V8 Mk 1 grille with the contrast black and aluminium finish would also be welcome. If your enormous parts horde includes any of those items for a reasonable price please don't hesitate to get in touch. I welcome any good advice regarding improving the performance and handling of the V8 cars, so if you can contribute again please don't be shy! Can you show any pics of your cars?

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Can you tell us a little more about the V8 final drive to the TC? (In the appropriate section...)
Because i am thinking of doing the same to my TC.

Thanks in advance,

Demetris
