Magnum 500 wheels - Bolt pattern?

Hi all,

I've been looking for a "special-edition" Rostyle wheel I once saw on a S1 in a gallery somewhere. Gorgeous it was. Deeper. But I found nothing until I came across a Cragar wheel through the forum, just below which was the one I had seen.

Has anybody had experience with stud patterns on these (considering 14x6"s). Will they fit as-is?

Hi Tor,
As its an american wheel they will probably be available in the correct stud pattern (5x5" - imerial or 5x127 in metric) however you may run into problems with offset, fronts will be fine, getting a wheel to sit up underneath the rear arch is the problem. I seem to remember Rumblin Ron had some wheels off an american car that fouled the rear arches, I also heard from a guy in london who had real problems with a set of Cragar SS wheels that he had fitted.
Your best bet is to get in touch with North Hants Tyres who are advertising the wheels and ask them.
Cheers
AL

Hey, I rather like those! Seems a good option when decent original P6 Rostyles are hard to find.
I'd go for 14" too if poss, would look 'right', as original on the car.

Thanks Alimorg, I'll get in touch with them. John, your wheel looks a little more like a true Rostyle than "mine", but the cost..! Have a look at this page, and check out a couple of models also in the middle column above the Magnum. Quite nice, aren't they?

On my '74 (Arden green, LT77, Webasto), as I've experienced on a '73 with rotted, un-fixed sills, the dash has buckled. Just a bit, but visibly. Anyone ever had that? Does the body sag like that when sill rot gets bad enough? The rot has been taken care of properly - if the fold-over weld-in repair is considered proper - and is coming out of storage and a Waxoyl marinade.

There are some lovely alloy and steel wheels available, but few with the correct wheel stud PCD (5"x5) and rim width & offset. Cragar had lovely Magnum wheels in 4.5"x5 and 5.5"x5 stud pattern, but they told me that I would have to buy "a trainload" of them if I wanted them in 5"x5.

Why waste time with buying fancy wheel trims when the real thing is (hopefully) still available? My 3500s has 5 stud stainless steel trims as was supplied in 1973. They are as good as the day they were made.Yes, you can buy fancy American rubbish at a higher price . If you change the road wheel to a more modern profile you run the risk of being accused of having a car that has been "tarted up" in desperation. I can assure you that Rover enthusiasts in NZ would be quick to point out to me if my vehicle varied in any way from the standard format.

Try buying H rated tyres in the correct width for 14" wheels. I have my car to drive, not to look at. I prefer to be safe than admired.

Cheers John. I'll field a call to the sales people to make sure they have what I'm after.
